Ritver PU Isolant (PI 280) is a two-component transparent polyurethane isolant, or sealer, for interior woodwork. It is specifically recommended for use on exotic timbers before applying a topcoat to ensure good adhesion and a high-quality finish. Product features
  • Formulation: A transparent, two-component polyurethane (PU) sealer.
  • Application: Primarily used as a basecoat or isolant for interior wood applications, including furniture, wardrobes, paneling, and doors.
  • Specific use: It is recommended for use on exotic wood species to prepare the surface for subsequent coatings.
  • Properties: Offers high covering power, elasticity, and excellent sanding characteristics, which helps to create a smooth surface for the topcoat.
  • Versatility: Can be used for either open-grain or closed-grain finishes, depending on the application technique.
Application details
  • Surface preparation: The wood surface should be clean, dry, and free from contaminants like oil or gum. Sand the timber with 100-grain sandpaper before applying.
  • Mixing: Ritver PU Isolant (PI 280) is catalyzed with Ritver PU Catalyst (CP019). The mixing ratio is 20% catalyst by weight.
  • Application method: Can be applied by spraying, brushing, or rolling. The number of coats needed depends on the porosity of the wood.
  • Sanding: It is advisable to sand between coats to achieve optimal smoothness.
  • Subsequent coats: After drying and sanding the isolant coat, you can apply a Ritver PU topcoat to achieve the final finish.
